A FIRST NATION APPROACH
Honouring Our Laws, Cultures and Languages
First Nation Consulting (FNC) began with the desire of three Michi Saagiig Anishinaabe-kwewag from Hiawatha First Nation wanting to support their community. We want to ensure that the Inherent and Treaty rights of First Nations
are respected and upheld. We want to ensure that opportunities for community prosperity are secured for the benefit of today’s generation as well as future generations. We want First Nations to be properly equipped with the resources
needed to thrive and to help ensure our environment and ways of life are protected by honouring our laws, cultures, and languages.
VISION
It is our vision as Anishinaabe-kwewag to lead with Anishinaabe values.
FNC is an emerging leader in engagement and consultation, whose only goals are the goals of the Nations we work for. It is our mission to contribute to a sustainable and equitable future by helping First Nations achieve their social, economic, and political objectives.
SOCIAL
Supporting First Nations in achieving their social objectives may include:
Developing and delivering education and training programs to cultivate understanding of First Nation languages, cultures, laws, and histories
Developing and implementing communications strategies
Developing and implementing initiatives to protect and revitalize culture and language
Planning, coordinating and facilitating community events

ECONOMIC
Supporting First Nations in achieving their economic objectives may include:
Negotiating and developing impact benefit agreements, including:
Equity and revenue sharing agreements
Resource management agreements
Employment and training agreements
Environmental protection agreements
Cultural heritage protection agreements
Infrastructure development agreements
Health and social services agreements
Negotiating and developing relationship/capacity funding
agreements
POLITICAL
Supporting First Nations in achieving their political objectives may include:
Reviewing, developing, and coordinating strategic plans
Organizing and facilitating community engagement and consultation
Reviewing, researching and developing governance and policy, including laws and codes pertaining to:
Citizenship
Residency
Election
Family and child welfare
Land/water use
